The Binding Number of a Graph and Its Anderson Number*
نویسنده
چکیده
The binding number of a graph G, bind(G), is defined; some examples of its calculation are given, and some upper bounds for it are proved. It is then proved that, if bind(G) > c, then G contains at least 1 G 1 c/(c + 1) disjoint edges if 0 < c < 3, at least ( G I (3c 2)/3c 2(c 1)/c disjoint edges if 1 < c < $, a Hamiltonian circuit if c > $, and a circuit of length at least 3(1 G / l)(c 1)/c if 1 < c < $ and G is not one of two specified exceptional graphs. Each of these results is best possible. The Anderson number of a graph is defined. The Anderson numbers of a few very simple graphs are determined; and some rather weak bounds are obtained, and some conjectures made, on the Anderson numbers of graphs in general.

Towards a measure of vulnerability, tenacity of a Graph
If we think of the graph as modeling a network, the vulnerability measure the resistance of the network to disruption of operation after the failure of certain stations or communication links. Many graph theoretical parameters have been used to describe the vulnerability of communication networks, including connectivity, integrity, toughness, binding number and tenacity. In this paper we discuss...
متن کاملTenacity and some related results
Conceptually graph vulnerability relates to the study of graphintactness when some of its elements are removed. The motivation forstudying vulnerability measures is derived from design and analysisof networks under hostile environment. Graph tenacity has been anactive area of research since the the concept was introduced in1992. The tenacity T(G) of a graph G is defined asbegin{center} $T(G)=di...
متن کاملA Survey On the Vulnerability Parameters of Networks
The analysis of vulnerability in networks generally involves some questions about how the underlying graph is connected. One is naturally interested in studying the types of disruption in the network that maybe caused by failures of certain links or nodes. In terms of a graph, the concept of connectedness is used in dierent forms to study many of the measures of vulnerability. When certain vert...
متن کاملA Survey on Complexity of Integrity Parameter
Many graph theoretical parameters have been used to describe the vulnerability of communication networks, including toughness, binding number, rate of disruption, neighbor-connectivity, integrity, mean integrity, edgeconnectivity vector, l-connectivity and tenacity. In this paper we discuss Integrity and its properties in vulnerability calculation. The integrity of a graph G, I(G), is defined t...
متن کاملBounding cochordal cover number of graphs via vertex stretching
It is shown that when a special vertex stretching is applied to a graph, the cochordal cover number of the graph increases exactly by one, as it happens to its induced matching number and (Castelnuovo-Mumford) regularity. As a consequence, it is shown that the induced matching number and cochordal cover number of a special vertex stretching of a graph G are equal provided G is well-covered bipa...
متن کاملVulnerability Measure of a Network - a Survey
In this paper we discuss about tenacity and its properties in stability calculation. We indicate relationships between tenacity and connectivity, tenacity and binding number, tenacity and toughness. We also give good lower and upper bounds for tenacity. Since we are primarily interested in the case where disruption of the graph is caused by the removal of a vertex or vertices (and the resulting...
